 American House Cleaning Trends

 

TWO-THIRD'S CLEAN

· Sixty-six percent of Americans regularly engage in spring cleaning. Thirty-three percent do not.

· Women ages 35-54 and men 18-24 and 55-64 are most likely to spring clean.

TO CLEAN OR NOT TO CLEAN

· Fifty-three percent spring clean because "it just needs to be done."

· Other reasons include:

          Get rid of a winter's worth of dust and dirt 22%

          It just makes me feel better 12%

          Get organized 2%

SPRING CLEANING PRIORITIES

· When it comes to spring cleaning, the rooms that get top priority include:

Kitchen 29%
Living Room 18%
Master Bedroom 16%
Bathrooms 7%
Family Room/Den 5%
Closets/Storage 4%
Basement 2%

The 21st Century House Cleaning in America Study was completed for The Soap and Detergent Association by International Communications Research (ICR). ICR questioned 1,000 American women and men regarding their house cleaning habits.
