| Q. | Can I wash the same amount of clothes in one load as I can wash in my agitator washer? |
| A. | Yes, the average wash load in current agitator washers and high-efficiency washers
is about the same — 7 pounds. Some models can easily handle larger loads. |
| Q. | Since my new front-loading washer uses considerably less water than my agitator
washer, can't I use a lot less detergent? |
| A. | You usually need to use the same amount of detergent in a front-loading washer as
you would use with your agitator washer, because the capacity and load size of most
front-loading washers is comparable to agitator washers. The amount of detergent
needed for the best cleaning is related to the amount of laundry and soil being
washed, not to the amount of water used. This is taken into account when detergents
are formulated for these washers. |
| Q. | Will I need to vary the detergent amount if I wash a small load? |
| A. | Yes. Just as with a regular detergent, use recommendations are based on "typical"
wash conditions. Follow the detergent package instructions and adjust the detergent
amount for conditions that are not typical:
- Use less detergent for small loads, lighter soiling or soft water.
- Use more detergent for large loads, high soil levels or hard water.
|
| Q. | With reduced water volume, will the new washers rinse as well as my current
agitator washer? |
| A. | Yes. Even though front-loading, high-efficiency washers use considerably less water,
they have two to four rinse cycles, compared to a single rinse in agitator washers.
Multiple rinses are usually better than one deep rinse. |
| Q. | Will I be able to select different wash cycles? |
| A. | Yes. Wash cycles are comparable to those of agitator washers. |
