Eight Senior Executives Newly Elected to SDA Board of Directors


  • Execs from BASF, Ecolab, Huntsman, Reckitt Benckiser, Rhodia, Shell Chemical, Unilever, Uniqema Welcomed to SDA Board; 25 Directors Elected by Membership

  • Board Elects George Calvert, Access Business Group, as Chair, Frank Sherman, Akzo Nobel Surface Chemistry, as Vice Chair

WASHINGTON, D.C., February 6, 2006 – The Soap and Detergent Association Board of Directors welcomed eight new senior executives from the cleaning product and chemical industries to its ranks during SDA's 2006 Annual Meeting and Industry Convention in Boca Raton, Florida. SDA's membership elected a total of 25 executives to serve two-year terms on the Board.

At its first meeting of the year, Board members elected George D. Calvert as its 2006 Chair. Dr. Calvert serves as Vice President, Research and Development/Quality Assurance at Ada, Michigan-based Access Business Group, a division of Alticor, Inc.

The 2006 Vice Chair is Frank Sherman, President and General Manager, Surfactants, Akzo Nobel.

Newly elected to the Board were:

  • Michael DeRuosi - President, Novecare, Rhodia Inc.
  • Clive Grannum - Senior Vice President, Americas, Uniqema.
  • William Mordan - Vice President & General Counsel - North America, Reckitt Benckiser Inc.
  • Steven Murray - General Manager, Higher Olefins and Derivatives, Shell Chemical LP.
  • Susan Nestegard - Senior Vice President, Research, Development and Engineering and Chief Technical Officer, Ecolab Inc.
  • David Parkin - Vice President, Performance Intermediates, Huntsman Corporation.
  • Gerry Podesta - Group Vice President, Performance Chemicals, BASF Corporation.
  • Michael Polk - Group Vice President, Unilever United States, Inc., Unilever.

Directors continuing their service on the Board include:
