Recognition Award for Innovative Uses of Glycerine
Contest Rules
- The Recognition Award for Innovative Uses of Glycerine is sponsored by The Soap and Detergent Association Oleochemical Division to recognize innovative research, development and commercial use of glycerine. The competition is held annually, or at suitable intervals determined by the Division.
- A $1,000 honorarium and a commemorative plaque are awarded the winning proposal. The award is presented at the Annual Meeting of The Soap and Detergent Association, or a comparable event. The Soap and Detergent Association will pay reasonable travel, accommodation and other expenses to allow one recipient (or one representative of a research team) to attend the award ceremony.
- Applicants are required to submit a short paper (limited to 1,000 words) describing the proposal and its potential commercial use. Entries are judged for their innovation, creativity, significant potential for commercial development, and rapid introduction of the use in commerce.
- One winning entry is selected. A panel of judges comprised of the Steering Committee of the Oleochemical Division or a subcommittee appointed by the Steering Committee selects the winner. The decision of the judges is final.
- The Award winner authorizes the SDA to publish the entry and publicize the Award, in the discretion of the SDA. The Award winner will make all efforts required to enable the SDA to publish the entry.
- The judges may opt not to select a winner for any reason, including failure of all entries to meet the above criteria.
